Robert J. Batson, III has over 20 years of professional experience as a licensed attorney working both in the federal government and the private sector. With experience in a presidential administration, on Capitol Hill, and with several national trade associations, Batson understands the needs and concerns of corporate clients as they strive to meet federal requirements and accomplish their goals.
Mr. Batson specializes in the areas of financial services, federal compliance and regulation, trade association law, and government relations. Mr. Batson has helped organizations maneuver through the legislative processes in Washington and the regulatory procedures within federal departments and agencies.
Mr. Batson’s experience includes serving over ten years as general counsel for national trade associations in the financial services space – most recently at INFiN, A Financial Services Alliance. Over the last decade, Batson has been instrumental in the development and implementation of strategies to ensure that the voices of businesses and their customers are heard by federal policymakers, particularly during public rulemaking comment periods.
During the George W. Bush Administration, Batson worked as a counselor and advisor at both the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) within the Executive Office of the President and the Office of Personnel Management (OPM). While Counselor to the Controller at OMB, Batson provided advice related to fulfilling the statutory requirements of the Office of Federal Financial Management and the President’s Management Agenda, as well as working on an Executive Order ultimately signed by the President.
Before practicing law, Batson served in several different roles on Capitol Hill, including in the Washington, DC, office of former U.S. Senator Fred D. Thompson. Batson has volunteered on a number of Congressional, Senate, and Presidential primary and general election races.
Batson received his J.D. and MBA degrees from the University of Tennessee, where he was a Student Materials Editor of the Tennessee Law Review.
Batson currently serves on the Board of Trustees for the Bright School.
